Hypnosis has been used as a healing tool for thousands of years and was approved by the American Medical Association (AMA) in 1958 to complement medical treatment. Since that time, the National Institute of Health (NIH) has validated its effectiveness for conditions such as chronic pain, IBS, tension headaches, insomnia, and more.

A recent four–year study conducted by the NIH utilizing hypnotherapy techniques in the treatment of Overactive Bladder/Urinary Urgency found that patients receiving hypnotherapy had equivalent or superior results to drug therapy.

The protocols used in the study were developed and administered by Robert Sapien, MD and Tim and Angela Simmerman-Sierra of the Hypnotherapy Academy of America.
